PURPOSE
Assists the department in achieving its goal of enhancing the overall educational experience of students through the
development of, exposure to, and participation in social, cultural, intellectual, recreational, and governance programs. The
graduate assistant is expected to facilitate programs and activities that conform to the stated standards and overall mission
of Baylor
University and the program quality and goals of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES Average work
week of 20 hours to be negotiated with supervisor, evening and weekend work required
Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in other staff development activities/projects
Serve on committees as assigned by supervisor or Director of Student Union
Serve on The Place 2 BU Programming Collaborative and participate in the planning and promotion of these events
Develop and maintain the 2BU web site
Assist with the promotion and selection of Baylor Activities Council (BAC) Leadership Team and members
Assist BAC with development of daytime, evening and weekend events, and advise members of the leadership team
Responsible for tracking the BAC budget (including expenditures, deposits, etc.)
Attend weekly BAC meetings
Promote evening and weekend programs through presentations and other marketing methods to organizations and faculty/staff
members
Work with staff of Bill Daniel
Student Center in coordinating
evening and weekend programs
Perform related duties
as assigned
SUPERVISION
General instruction
and periodic review given by the Assistant Director of the Student Union for Programming
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree
Acceptance into graduate program
(M.S. in Student Services Administration)
Effective oral, written and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a contributing
member of a team
Must be flexible, motivated, and able to perform well
under pressure
Participation as a student leader in co-curricular
activities
Ability to interact effectively
with individuals regardless of age, socioeconomic status, race, or gender
$750.00/month for 12 months= $9,000.00
year
9 hours tuition stipend per semester
(fall and spring)
3 hours tuition stipend per semester (summer
sessions)
